About Me

Hello and welcome to my classroom Web site! This site will be a great source of communication, filled with things like homework assignments, class schedules, announcements, and so much more. Be sure to check back often and see what is going on!

This is my tenth year of teaching in the Verde Valley, and it is my second year at Mingus Union High School.  I am originally from the great state of Ohio (Go Buckeyes!), and I now live with my wife (Lisa) and my golden retrievers (Geddy and Bailey) here in Cottonwood.  My first eight years of teaching and coaching were at Camp Verde High School where I taught English 9 and coached the golf team.  As my students already know, I spend my spare time regularly going to the movies, listening to a plethora of different types of music, riding my Spyder, and rooting on the Cleveland Indians -- Go Tribe!

Earning a B.A. in Literature from The College of Wooster in 1992, I (perhaps ironically) went immediately into the world of business.  I was in management for a few years, but spent the bulk of my business career in outside sales for the wireless telecommunications industry.  In 2009 I earned an M.S. in Education at the University of Akron and shortly thereafter moved to Arizona.  While teaching full time in Camp Verde, I earned an M.A. in General English at Northern Arizona University.  Although we very much miss our family in Ohio, Arizona has become our home and we love it!
